Fun in First Grade!
Field Trips:
We will have about 3-4 Field Trips this year. More information to come!!
Holidays Around the World:
During the month of December, students “travel” around the world with their own personalized passports. They learn about new cultures and special traditions along the way!
Integrated Math and Reading Units:
Throughout the year, students will participate in many integrated lessons. Two of our favorites include “Measuring Penny” and “How Big is a Foot?” Students get a better understanding of non-standard measurement using a variety of tools including measuring their teacher with their feet!
100th Day of School:
We celebrate the big 100 with different classroom projects that celebrate the 100th day of School. You might even see some 100 year olds walking around the hallways!
Animal Research:
Students will become animal experts! Students will be researching and gathering information about an animal they choose. They will take part in the writing process by drafting, revising, and publishing their work. Students will create their very own Animal Lap Book filled with animal facts, diagrams and pictures, and complete a full research paper on their animals.
